About The Walkathon

St. Jude's Walk For The Win will be held from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (participants may come and go whenever they choose) at the Leonardtown High School track. The date of the event is March 21, 2015. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

All of the proceeds will be donated to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.  St. Jude’s has been an organization devoted to saving the lives of children for the last 53 years. St. Jude’s is completely nonprofit, and is an international organization assisting anyone and everyone selflessly. This organization doesn’t charge anyone, giving the Spring Ridge Middle School students incentive to start a Walkathon called the St. Judes Walk For The Win in support of St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.

St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital has been an organization devoted to saving the lives of children for the last 53 years. St. Jude’s is completely nonprofit, and is an international organization assisting anyone and everyone selflessly. This organization doesn’t charge anyone who needs care.  St. Jude’s has an incredible mission that they have been working on since 1962, when Danny Thomas created the organization.

There are several reasons for choosing St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude’s has accomplished many things in an astonishingly short amount of time. Some of their accomplishments include:

  • In 52 years, St. Jude’s has pushed the childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to above 80%.

  • St. Jude’s is completely nonprofit, not charging families for housing, treatment, food, or travel.

  • St. Jude’s has the world’s best survival rates for the most aggressive childhood cancers

  • St. Jude has helped increase the survival rates for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) from 4% before opening in 1962 to 94% today.

  • On average, St. Jude has more than 67,000 patient visits each year.

St. Jude’s, and the kids currently getting treatment from St. Jude’s, needs donations and support. Everything counts. Everything is precious. $5.00 might not seem like much at first, but that’s enough to buy a meal for a sick child.

“St. Jude’s is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent in the next decade. We won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.”
